At the Club meeting Saturday, visitor and Secretary of the Fannin County Amateur Radio Club (K5FRC) Sarah Richardson (KI5PZF) told us that Jo Ann Keith (KA5AZK), net manager for the 7290 Traffic Net, is going to be the featured speaker at a special event training session Fannin County ARC meeting on Saturday, November 1, 2025.
Jo Ann manages the net which runs Monday through Saturday, from 10am to 12pm Central Time. This net is a regional traffic net for the state of Texas and from their website (https://www.7290trafficnet.org/) it has been “…in continuous operation since 1953…”
On November 23, 2016 Texas Country Reporter did a segment titled Ham Radio Couple. It featured John and Jo Ann Keith and the 7290 Traffic Net from their location in Gilmer, Texas. If you would like to watch it the link is here – Ham Radio Couple.
The date is Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 1PM. The location will be Bois D ‘Arc Creek Cowboy Church, on SH 121 S in Bonham, Texas. I am going to try and be there and maybe some of us could meet at DQ for lunch on the way there. Drop me a note (email) if that interests you.
