    All,

Yesterday (Saturday, June 30) I picked up Club member Cliff Leath (KI5OPP) and drove to New Boston to the Texarkana Tailgate Mini-Fest.  There were probably 50 tables set up with people having all manner of items for sale.  Here is a picture of the venue as people were getting set up:

While there I met frequent Monday net participant Greg Braudaway (W5GEB), I failed to get a picture of or with him, and David Grigg (KB5MIQ) who has a YouTube channel (HAM RADIO WITH KB5MIQ BIGBOY) (link here):

I just had to add these pictures of local ham Adam Huggins (WW5AH) classic Ford Bronco:

The Red River Valley Amateur Radio Club was well represented at the event.  In addition to Cliff and I, Charles (WA5VHU) and Cindy (KD5CCB) Penry were there, Thomas Sorensen (AF5WO), Barry Bryant (k5AXI), Mike Rice (WB5KWK) and Ronnie Rumsey (KA5LEK).

Several of our members won prizes in the frequent drawings and we all had a nice time.  The drive was over two hours each way for me, so I don’t know if I’ll go again, but if I’m able to go with friends that makes the drive worth it for me.  If you haven’t gone to one before, it is outdoors under a pavilion.  Take a lawn chair and drinks to ensure you stay hydrated.  At this one a local women’s shelter supporter was grilling hotdogs and hamburgers, with all the trimmings available, for a donation.  There were frequent drawings for all manner of items.  I had a great time and think everyone else did too.
