Message to ARRL Section Manager or Section Emergency Coordinator: — NEED VOLUNTEER — I will try to learn how to do this between now and field day. As you know, my operating skills aren’t the best, but I love trying in contests. (if even if they are not contests)
Public Information Table: Yes, KD5CCB to provide. 100 Bonus Points. – I will be glad to donate a few of the ARRL band plan sheets and index cards that I have. If you want them.
I plan on bringing my RV that way we have a cool spot. I will operate from outside of it.
Media Publicity: Yes, W5EBC, Local publicity, newspaper, news web site, etc.— I have contacted East Texas Broadcasting, and they are going to put it on the community calendar. It should get some on air mentions also. We can set up a time the week before Field Day to go in and do interviews with the morning DJs. Is there anyone interested in doing that?
Social Media Bonus: — NEED VOLUNTEER —. I don’t believe there is any social media presence for the club. Please correct me if I’m wrong. Do we want to set something up. I’ve stopped using Ticky Tok Facey Tweets, but could take a look at it, if the group is interested.

Also Mark, thank you for bringing your RV! Are you going to run your generator for the duration for your RV or plug into the 30 amp RV outlet that is in the northeast corner of the pavillion? If you are going to run your generator should we plan to run all the stations off it also? If so, I won’t bring my generators. It’s up to you, let me know.
As for club social media I don’t know of any that the club has but we can always start something. The only social media I regularly use is Facebook. We will have internet out there via my cellular data modem, we will actually be using it as our wifi network for logging. We might be able to stream something?

Don’t forget, the Civic Center added one or more access points out there under the Pavilion. We have had strong WiFi there the last two years. I will email both of you the WiFi login details privately. They are good with all of us using it, but I don’t want to publicly post it.

The RV generator does not run, so you will have to bring yours. I will need to be plugged in to the outlet. I am bringing my battery box, but will need to recharge off the generators during down time.

Last year we were able to run two different spots on KZHN AM 1270 each hour but that station is no longer available to us.
Is East Texas Broadcasting interested in running on-air PSA spots about our Field Day?

Man-Lift Alternatives?
So, first of all, this is about mounting the top pulleys on the two parking lot light poles in the pavilion parking lot at about 25-30’. We don’t have to do this on the morning of Field Day, in fact I would rather do this before Field Day. It should only take about 30 minutes and only needs to be done once.
How about these sources of lift:
C & C of Paris will rent a towable 50’ lift for $185.00 per day.
Home Depot of Rockwall will rent a towable 50’ lift for $349.00 per day.
Fire Department ladder truck.
Anyone know a friendly tree trimmer service with their bucket truck?
A Lamar Electric Co-Op bucket truck?
Any other ideas?
Ok folks, what do you think about this?
As it looks like the man-lift may not make it to Field Day I am planning on bringing my tall extension ladder to use as an antenna support for the Bring Your Own Radio/VHF station antennas.
The ladder is a 28’ aluminum ladder. According to the Werner web page this ladder has a useable reach of 27’, that’s the ladder and a 5’ 7” person reaching up 12”.
The parking lot light pole is about 30’ high and we need to put our top pulley a bit below the top, below the light fixture so a reach of 27’ would be about right.
The reservations I have is that I am a bit worried about leaning a ladder against the parking lot light pole as I don’t know how sturdy it really is or how rusty the mounting bolts might be.
Also, my ladder is rated for 200 lbs. I didn’t buy it to climb as a ladder so the 200 lb. weight limit was not an issue as I currently weight more than 200 lbs.
So if we used the ladder to put the top pulleys on the parking lot lights someone that weighs 200 lbs. or less would need to climb the ladder. Any volunteers that qualify?
What do you think? Would this be a good or a bad idea?

I don’t have much time, but I did wake to your continued exchanges on the lift and wanted to provide some additional info. The specs on a Genie GS-1930 and a U-Haul with ramp are included below. I don’t know about the strength of the ramp, but the U-Haul unit is like $35 a day. Maybe someone can find another option, but I wanted to at least provide that thought before I have to run for training.

Personally I am more familiar with Facebook than the others.

I have been giving it some thought. I could add it to my pages and put some other people as admins. However, I don’t do daily posts, not even for my store. I leave that to the wife. It would be closer to biweekly/sporadic. I would be able to auto post to Instagram and Twitter (I’m not sure anyone should use the cesspool that is twitter, but I digress). My question is, is this something we want to use going forward? Meeting announcements? Upcoming test sessions? Events? would we get any engagement, from members? from the public? I probably won’t make the decision to start on my own, but if giving the go ahead by a few folks, I could give it a go.
