Red River Valley Amateur Radio Club
Amateur Radio in and around the Red River Valley Area of Northeast Texas
All,
Today a bunch of RRVARC members went to the DFW HAM EXPO 2024 at Vista Ridge Mall in Lewisville. Cliff Leath (KI5OPP) rode with me:

We met Mark Johnson (W5PTX), Steven Lott (KG5VK) and Zogail (KB5KBE) Smith, Charles (WA5VHU) and Cindy (KD5CCB) Penry, Mike Rice (WB5KWK) and Ronnie Rumsey (KA5LEK), where we all had a great time looking at ham radio stuff. Also pictured is Sam Lovett (KI5RSV), more on Sam below.

Steven Lott Smith introduced us to Katherine Forson (KT5KMF) and Sam Lovett (KI5RSV). Forson was the 2021 ARRL Hiram Percy Maxim Memorial Award recipient and the first from Texas. Lovett is the 2023 Hiram Percy Maxim Memorial Award recipient. Forson will be a junior at Texas A&M this fall and is the president of the Texas A&M ham radio club W5AC. W5AC is one of, if not the, oldest university ham radio club in existence. And Lovett, all of 16 years old, just got his Extra ticket!

There were some at least minor purchases made and then we went across the street to 54th Street Restaurant & Drafthouse where we had a great lunch:

After lunch we all scattered with fond memories of the Expo and our fellowship.
