Don Heetderks (KJ5EQS) sent me a heads-up about the current Atwoods sale and specifically pointed out some of the ammunition prices.  I took a closer look and there are a couple of deals that appear particularly good compared with current pricing elsewhere.

The Atwoods ad is already in effect and runs August 25 through September 7.

The standout to me is the 9mm practice ammunition:

• Magtech 9mm 115-grain FMJ – $10.99/50 rounds — about 22¢ per round
• CCI Blazer Brass 9mm 115-grain FMJ – $10.99/50 rounds — also about 22¢ per round
• CCI Blazer Brass or Sellier & Bellot .45 ACP 230-grain FMJ – $19.99/50 rounds — about 40¢ per round
• Hornady Critical Defense 9mm 115-grain – $24.99/25 rounds — about $1.00 per round

I did some comparison shopping after Don sent this to me.  The $10.99 Blazer Brass and Magtech 9mm are the real standouts.  Current bulk online pricing for comparable brass-cased 9mm is commonly in the mid-20¢-per-round range, sometimes requiring the purchase of 1,000 rounds or more to get there.  At 22¢ per round in a 50-round box, the Atwoods price is difficult to beat once online shipping is taken into account.

The .45 ACP price is competitive with normal online pricing, although not quite as exceptional as the 9mm.

The Hornady Critical Defense price is also good.  Current listings are generally around $25-$32 for the same 25-round box, so $24.99 is near the low end of the market.
