Hey Y’all,
This is a little off topic for Ham Radio but than again it’s can also be a big part of it. I have been upgrading my sound system at my QTH. I do a lot of thrifting looking for good deals on stereos and equipment. I find a lot of gear have integrated into my system but a lot of its old and the DAC’s are old. I have been getting some gear from Schiit, yeah that’s their real name, but it good gear at a good price point. Not cheap but worth the money. I bought a Schiit Mimir DAC and came out of my CD player digitally. So I am using my old Pioneer “Thrifted” CD player as a transport now. It has brought my old CD’s to life.
On the HAM side a lot of these newer DAC’s have optical in. If your radio has optical out you can connect to your computer without any ground loops. Helps to keep RF out of your computer. Most lower end ham gear does not have optical out though. I still use USB in but you definitely can get RF into your computer that way but you gain one cable CAT/Sound control.
Alright if you find a good piece of gear let me know! My last component was an ONKYO TX-8140 stereo. Works great and sound good.
