      All,

It happened again! We had a Club meeting and education AND fun broke out! Isn’t there a rule against that somewhere? LOL  We had 19 people in attendance and High Cotton again got rave reviews as our new venue.

Charles Penry (WA5VHU) and Phillip Beall (W5EBC) did a presentation on APRS. There are contextual comments that added to the presentation that are missing as you look at the PDF, but if you would like to look the material over here is a link to it. Following that presentation Charles did another on recent power upgrades done at the Atlas repeater site. The Cliff’s Notes version is that all of the 12 volt gear is now powered by a sophisticated 12 volt power system which is then charged from the utility and back up generator provided at the site. Said another way – multi-path redundancy is now in place. Please click here for the PDF of that presentation.

Dan Beard (KB7JZI) started a “table top fox hunt” exercise/gaming activity. Hilarity ensued as he briefed the rules and teams were formed. The exercise will resume at the January meeting. Dan has promised a forum post once he has the material formatted and and as he has the chance around the busy holiday period.

Borrowing the name of a famous column writer’s piece – BOUQUETS AND BRICKBATS FOR ABBY…

Bouquets: A comment made at the meeting bears passing along – A former and now rejoining Club member, last active 20 years ago, told us that he learned more at Saturday’s meeting than he did in all previous meetings he had attended combined. If you have not been to a meeting in a while, please join us at the January 28, 2023 meeting and see what is happening!

Brickbats: At the meeting an updated Unofficial WB5RDD Call Sign List was available for the taking. Errors were subsequently spotted and sincere apologies to Club members Haskell Maroney (CORRECT call sign KI5VGQ), Jim Vignali (CORRECT call sign W5VIG) and Kim Ledbetter (KI5VLH) who was completely missing from the list! Please update your list and/or click here and download an updated one. And keep those corrections coming to me!

Everybody have fun and be safe over the holidays.
