Hey guys I’m not sure if this is in the right place or not, but very soon I am going to start a emergency information simplex net. The whole idea of this net is to test the range and reliability of comms in a grid down scenario with no access to a local repeater. The Idea is not to blast the country side with 500w and a 13 element beam. People in this net should use as low a power as possible to conserve power, and use a relay system to pass the required information.
With that being said I will put out an email with the information that will be requested to be passed the day before the net will take place. This net will not be intended for ragchew, or chit chat other than the required information.
An example of a contact should look like this.
Information of the day- Name/Location in coordinates (“mm”ss.ssss”)/Status of approximate power remaining in hours.

– Name Matthew, Location 33minutes 40 decimal 8410 seconds North, By 95minutes 25 decimal 8288 seconds West, approximant power reaming in hours under current conditions 12
Net control will read back make corrections if necessary then move to the next station.
Anyway I think this could be a lot of fun and I would like going forward to try and do this on several bands, and in several operating modes. I am open to suggestions and comment’s.

Sounds like a good idea and should be fun. Reminds me to get my backup battery system back on-line since using it a winter field day.
