Follow-Up: Let’s Get the GMRS Forum Rolling!
Club repeater live + personal setups welcomeAll,
Just a quick nudge on the new GMRS area of our Club forums. The Club GMRS repeater at the Atlas site (462.600 PL88.5 in/out) is now part of our offerings — details are on the homepage along with the other repeater information. To my way of thinking, this is a big win for local coverage.
Kathy and I also operate a GMRS repeater here on our property in Honey Grove. It works well for around-the-farm and nearby comms, but range is limited by our current antenna height (always looking for ideas to improve that in rural terrain).
We’ve seen GMRS shine for family coordination, property maintenance, and as a solid backup alongside ham radio — especially when cells are sometimes unreliable. GMRS is also a great on-ramp for folks to eventually get their ham ticket.
