      This Tuesday Apr 6 fox hunt is canceled. We will try again next Tuesday Apr 23.

      We had one hunter on April 6.

        Tue, Apr 23, 2024.  10 am – 12 pm.    446.250 MHz. This will be a good day for fox hunting. I will be inside the Paris city limits.

        I will do 2 more hunts this spring in the month of May. Then, I will wait for cooler weather in the fall to restart hunting.

        Please let me know if you plan on hunting.

          Had a good fox hunt on April 23, 2024 with 7 fox hunters and 2 foxes.

          The next fox hunts are set for:

          Sat, May 11, 2024.  10 am – 12 pm.   Inside Lamar County.   446.250 MHz.

          Tue, May 21, 2024.  10 am – 12 pm.   Inside Lamar County.   446.250 MHz.

          Pending weather. This will be our last 2 planed hunts for this year until it cools down some this fall.

              Had a good hunt on 10/8/24 with 7 hunters.

              Next hunt will be 11/12/24 Tuesday 10 am – 12 pm.   Location to be determined.   446.250 MHz.

                We had a good fox hunt today.
                The fox was hidden at KB7JZI and KB7JZH QTH (Location).
                The fox was WA5KZA

                The hunters were:
                KD5MZY
                David Walden
                K5KEY
                N5DDS
                WB5JT
                Tim Streum
                and KJ5AXI

                The first hunters arrived in 1 hour from the start of the hunt.
                All went to Braum’s for lunch.
                The next hunt is scheduled for Dec 10, 2024 provided wind chill is above 38 and the temp is below 80 during the hunt.

                    The fox hunt for Tuesday Feb 11 is CANCELED. The closer we get to Tuesday the higher perdition of rain. It is now 90 % during the hunt.

                          Had 3 hunters. N4DDS, K5KEY and K5AXI on April 12, 2025

                          We will be going back to second Tuesday hunts. 10 am to 12 noon on 446.250MHz.

                          For those that can not hunt on Tuesdays, I can conduct a hunt on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays from 10 am to 12 noon.

                          (one par month)

                          When you get a group of 3 or more, call me a few days ahead so I can check my schedule and charge the batteries.

                          Next scheduled FOX HUNT is May 10, 2025, from 10 am to 12 noon on 445.250 MHz.

                                All,

                                This is our calendar notices for the Fox Hunts:

                                Please join in the fun of practicing locating rogue transmitters.  Whether it is a pirate radio station or a light pole generating the signal, tracking down our practice emitter – the fox – you will hone your skills.  If you do not know how and want to ride along with someone else and learn the process, please just let us know.  The event is held the SECOND Tuesday of each month, 10am to noon, provided wind chill >38F and the temperature is <80F.  For more details please check the Club forums here.

                                That is the plan and I will sticky this at the top of this forum section and see how that displays.

                              Who We Are

                              Red River Valley Amateur Radio Club (RRVARC) is a licensed FCC radio operator (WB5RDD) and an affiliate of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) – The National Association for Amateur Radio®.

                              Club members – hams – are persons interested in amateur radio operations and public service. The Club and its members participate in public service events such as the Tour de Paris, Field Day and educational activities, as well as during emergency preparedness activations.

                              Non-Profit Organization

                              The RRVARC is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization.

                              Where We Meet

                              The Red River Valley Amateur Radio Club meets at Paris Municipal Court (2910 Clarksville St, Paris, TX 75460) usually on the 4th Saturday of each month.

                              Note: Special events like Field Day and some November and December meetings are excepted.  Check the events calendar for special location, dates and time.
