    All,

Whether you live in a neighborhood covered by a Home Owners Association (HOA) or not, you have friends who are hams that do.  So, whether for yourself or for them, please heed the call to weigh in with Congress and tell them to let hams put up antennas without being “hamstrung” by HOA regulations.  Like that, hamstrung?  LOL  ARRL North Texas Section Manager Steven Lott Smith (KG5VK) has posted this link – HOA RELIEF: U.S. House of Representatives (H.R. 1094) and U.S. Senate (S. 459) – to a piece on the topic.  It explains the legislation and provides the opportunity to easily send your thoughts to your specific member of the House and your two senators.  Please take a moment and share your thoughts with them.

    All,

ARRL HQ has issued a pretty easy to follow process for weighing in on this Home Owner Association (HOA) matter.  This link (click here) will open a PDF that gives you step-by-step guidance.  HOA’s have a powerful lobby.  The experience of many of my friends that live under the rules of an HOA is that they really like telling people what they can and can’t do.  And they really don’t like being limited in their authority to tell people what they can and can’t do.  Think of them as a bunch of the most overbearing and insufferable Karen’s you can imagine, like the Phillies Karen at this recent baseball game (click here), and you’ll have the idea.  We all need to tell Congress to tell HOA’s that hams can pursue our hobby without their interference.

    Please Note:
Individuals should still submit their own support.

Which is Two clicks of the Mouse easy…simply go to this website:

Subject: Club Letters on HOA Bill

    Hello all,

As a part of getting the letters to congress campaign there is a whole other way to help show support. All ARRL Affiliated Clubs are asked to submit letters of support. Below I have included two links. One is the instructions and the other is the form letter that a club should use. The letter should go on club letterhead if possible. If no letterhead is possible just a letter of support will do. This is the first full week of the month and even though the government is in “shut down” we need to continue this campaign. I am sending this to the Section Managers and the Affiliated Club Coordinators in an effort to get the word out to as many club meetings as possible. Reach out to the clubs and ask them to consider writing a letter. After they are signed they need to be scanned and sent to the address in the instructions. You do not have to send the letters directly to congress. They will be delivered. Many clubs are meeting around this time and now is the time to reach out to them.
