This SurvivalBlog.com article Learning From Our Fire Drill, by A.F. (05/07/2026) was a really sobering piece.  The author and his wife and pets suffered through smelling smoke from an unknown source and his writeup informs us of all the hoops he jumped through trying to figure out the source.  Fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, volunteer firefighters, thermal imagers; it is all thoroughly covered.  I suggest you read it and do an assessment of your own preparedness.  If your smoke detector goes off what are you going to do?  What if it is 0200 in January?  There are a lot of moving pieces to consider.  In the end, have a plan.
