My daily news load is to launch Firefox with like 15 tabs that constitute the start.  I then click across the tabs and right click topics of interest and close the tab, moving on to the next one.  When I am done, I then save all the newly opened tabs to an offline reader to peruse throughout the day.  I look at some non-news sites in that load, one of them being a survivalist blog called survivalblog.com.  It oftentimes has good writeups and is updated to keep the content fresh.  It is run by the author James Wesley Rawles.  He has a line of best-selling survivalist novels and other written works.  Here is a Google search list of some of them (link).  In addition to being an accomplished author, Rawles is a former U.S. Army intelligence officer.  He’s a sharp dude and his blog publishes daily pieces from guest authors.  Some are just super.

He recently had one by a guy with the subject line being the very generic and uninspiring My Most Recent Lesson in Logistics, by Reltney McFee. What was it really about?  Something I have struggled with, maintaining current batteries in all manner of flashlights, lanterns, optics, range finders, garage door openers, gate operators, vehicles; you name it.  Yes, at one point I too had a list.  The point of the list to periodically change not just the batteries in our smoke detectors, but a checklist to refresh them in all manner of other items.  My challenge is shared by the author.  In a somewhat humorous piece he goes through an update of his current list.  I won’t repost it since I don’t have their permission, but the link above should load it and I encourage a look.  Enjoy!
