The Club leadership recently added a GMRS repeater (462.600 PL88.5 in/out) to our Club offerings.  The frequency and PL tone are on the home page of the website and I decided to add a dedicated area to the forums for people to use to discuss whatever GMRS topic might be on their mind.

The logic for adding the repeater and the forum section are pretty simple: 1) We determined that many, if not most, local hams also have a GMRS license and one or more radios.  2) We are pretty sure that GMRS is an entryway to ham radio.  3) If we can encourage a GMRS operator to become a licensed Amateur radio operator, terrific.  4) If we can get them to join the RRVARC, all the better.

If you have a GMRS equipment evaluation, question or observation, you now have a place to post about it.  If you are a GMRS licensee but not yet a licensed Amateur radio operator, you can join the club as an Associate member and have membership rights to participate here in our forums.  We hope you will take full advantage.

I use a Wouxun kg 1000 g for my base and a Wouxun UV6D for HT, with assortment of Baofeng HT’s. GMRS is a great family communication system. I also have several Motorola and Kenwood mobiles for backup.
