Anyone using open source firmware on there older routers? I am using FreshTomato on one of my routers now. I have used DD-WRT, Tomato, and FreshTomato firmware for years. I have found open source firmware to be faster. Security bugs on “working” projects get fixed, normally faster than your original firmware. OpenWrt, DD-WRT, and FreshTomato have been active for years.
One issue is support for newer routers takes time. I really like open source firmware compared to original firmware. Feature on open source firmware are more user friendly and advanced. Giving you features blocked by original firmware. Have I had original firmware that worked? Sure, but most have UI bugs.
