Red River Valley Amateur Radio Club
Amateur Radio in and around the Red River Valley Area of Northeast Texas
All,
Password managers have become increasingly important to me and I think they should be important to you too. The one that Kathy and I use (RoboForm – we have used it for many years) allows us to share passwords, store information to fill out fields when making purchases online (including credit card info) and even has a “Safe Notes” area where we can save important information like my parent’s social security numbers, birthdates, etc.
This free link to the Wall Street Journal article – Why You Should Use a Password Manager for All Your Secrets, Not Just Logins – will hopefully prod members of our Club to get started using these important tools. Want more from this bright gal? A Better New Year’s Resolution: Make Your Passwords Secure (January 2024) and Apple’s New Password Manager Is Free. That’s Just One Reason to Use It. (September 24) are two more. She provides links to them from within the first article, but these links should be free ones. Please let me know if they don’t all readily load up for you.
We can no longer reuse passwords. We need long/complex passwords. And we need a secure way to store these passwords that is available cross-platform (MS laptop, iPhone, Android tablet). Kathy and I literally have RoboForm installed on everything and it doesn’t care what the platform is. I encourage you to read this article and start applying the information it provides.
