Red River Valley Amateur Radio Club
Amateur Radio in and around the Red River Valley Area of Northeast Texas
OKey dokey, folks.
An update is in order.
1) All of the needed parts have arrived, and all that is left is to hang the end supports, screw on the elements, and then crank the silly little handle until everything is up in the sky. Then we test.
So, we’re about there.
Now the uncomfy part likely to knot some knickers.
The EOC HF antenna is a SECONDARY priority to getting through The Great Darkening (and associated panic) on April 8th! Heads up, people. We’ll deal with the immediate local problems first.
If it gets put up before Friday next … great, but I’ve got all the shred-ducks and blood-bunnies I can concurrently deal with for this week and the first part of next.
So, we will get to it, and it’s gonna be super-duper fantabulous and okey dokey. It’s just going to require a wee little bit more patience.
That is all.

We have an efhw that doesn’t take ten minutes to deploy. We are fine.
UPDATE!
The new Double Bazooka Type HF Antenna is up and functional at the EOC!
Thanks to the steadfast assistance of Haskell, the system was hoisted and smoke checked Monday morning during the lead-up to the eclipse. Randy (N5DDS) reported that it tuned fine to a 1.5/1 SWR and functioned both in RX and TX modes.
There are still a few details to work out, but the important part is, we’re back in the game.
More as it develops.
