At the club meeting yesterday there was a discussion of participating in a “regional” net on 6 meters. Then yesterday afternoon I saw a Twitter/X post (https://x.com/cqcqcqdx/status/2103894522362995123) by Ross Langman (KB8NTY) (@RossRadio) that said “NVIS STYLE “BEAM” ANTENNA FOR BETTER STATESIDE COVERAGE ON HF Much more than a half wave dipole, upon closer examination, you will see that there is a reflector at the bottom of the antenna! Making this antenna a 2 element wire “beam””. There was an illustration:

There was also a link to “THE CLOUD WARMER NVIS BEAM – AIM FOR THE CLOUDS AND GET BETTER “LOCAL” SIGNALS! – AN NVIS STYLE “BEAM” ANTENNA FOR BETTER “LOCAL” AREA COVERAGE ON HF” (link here). The whole post was on topic for the regional net discussed at the meeting, so I asked one of our club resident antenna experts – Do these posts look right to you? He replied yes. I won’t put words in his mouth, but he said this was a very viable design. There are other options, but this one is sound.
