Red River Valley Amateur Radio Club
Amateur Radio in and around the Red River Valley Area of Northeast Texas
All,
We had a terrific meeting on Saturday with 19 Club members, 1 new member applicant and two visitors present. The three current board members – Haskell Maroney (K5HRM), Mark Perrine (KI5KNX) and Bill Townsend (KJ5ABG) – were all reelected to another two-year term.
Club President Mark Johnson (W5PTX) wanted me to expedite getting some content up on the site because we got such a great reaction to it. My bride Kathy Beall (W5WON) told me that it was the best and most informative presentation she had seen at one of our Club meetings.
Mark and Jerry Keisler (WA5KZA) did that presentation on Nets and Being Net Control and those present were provided a copy of the RRVARC Net Control Call Up Script. Those two links provide that material for your perusal.
My comments are available here in the Secretary’s Report. Of note, we are aware that the website has recently slowed and we are working to remedy that. We also have an active order capability for ordering custom embroidered shirts, ladies tops, hats, a hoodie, etc. Along the top of the page you will see SHOP. Please click there and take a look at the offerings. We continue to struggle to find a windbreaker that is burnt orange. If you know a source for one please drop a note to secretary@rrvarc.org.
We confirmed the application of new member Casey Mitchell (KC5IXI) and distributed the newly updated “Unofficial” Call Sign List. Following the meeting Club member Charles “Chuck” Naslund (ZL3ZWN) asked that we update that list to reflect him being Chuck and that has now been done. The newly updated list (v21) is available to download and/or print out at this link.
Enjoy!
Phillip Beall (W5EBC)
