Dear Local Amateur Radio and Scanner Enthusiasts,

An unofficial list of public safety activity codes has been compiled through dedicated, though limited, monitoring of live scanner broadcasts from emergency dispatches on 453.200 MHz in Paris, Lamar County, Texas. These codes correspond to various types of calls and originate from both publicly available sources and contributions voluntarily shared for the benefit of the community. This information is published alongside the Lamar County Public Safety Dispatch Broadcastify feed, available here: https://www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/30603.

In recent months, there has been a troubling departure from long-standing transparency. Officials have altered the publicly funded http://www.paristexas911.net website, replacing clear call descriptions with ambiguous activity codes. In an even more concerning move, all police department activity has been removed from public view under the justification of “officer safety”—a decision made despite considerable public opposition.

This shift undermines public trust and accountability. The community has a right to know how taxpayer-funded emergency services are being utilized and to remain informed about incidents occurring in their neighborhoods. Other Texas jurisdictions have successfully challenged similar attempts at restricting public information, and we should not accept anything less than full transparency here at home.

This list of activity codes, in conjunction with the Broadcastify scanner feed, is provided solely as a public service for informational and entertainment purposes. I do not receive compensation for this effort; rather, I view it as part of my personal commitment and service to the broader Christian and civic community.

If you find this resource helpful, or have information that could improve its accuracy and completeness, your feedback and contributions are welcome. I invite anyone who can spare the time—even just to confirm a single call—to assist in identifying codes not yet documented. When listening to a tone-out, please consider cross-referencing the information posted on http://www.paristexas911.net and the Broadcastify website above, and if you discover a new or unclear code, kindly share it along with the nature of the call for future inclusion in the list.

Thank you for your support—and 73s!

    Leo Salas, N5JEP
